Šibenik is a Croatian town on the Adriatic coast, known for its rich history and architecture. It is famous for the Cathedral of St James, a UNESCO monument and a masterpiece of Renaissance architecture. The cathedral is unique because it was built entirely of stone without any binding material. The old town offers narrow streets, churches and palaces from different periods.
The fortresses of St Michael and St John dominate the city skyline. Nearby are Krka and Kornati national parks, ideal for day trips. Krka National Park is known for its spectacular waterfalls and lakes.
The Kornati are an archipelago of over 100 islands with unique seascapes. Šibenik has a long tradition of seafaring and fishing. Local cuisine offers excellent seafood and local wines. Šibenik is a destination that brings together history, nature and Mediterranean charm.
