Gradačac is a town in north-eastern Bosnia known for its rich history and distinctive architecture. Its best-known symbol is the Gradaščević fortress, also called the "White Tower", built in the 19th century. The town is closely linked to Husein-kapetan Gradaščević, the national hero known as the "Dragon of Bosnia". Today the fortress houses a museum presenting the history of the region and the life of Gradaščević.
Nearby stands the clock tower, another recognisable symbol of Gradačac. The town is surrounded by a fertile plain known for plum growing and rakija production. Every year a well-known plum and rakija fair attracts visitors from across the region.
Gradačac has a rich tradition of crafts and home industry. Local cuisine offers traditional Bosnian dishes and sweet plum desserts. It is a destination that offers an authentic experience of provincial Bosnian history and culture.
