Jajce is one of the most beautiful and historically richest towns in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Located in central Bosnia, it is famous for the spectacular Pliva waterfall right in the town centre. Jajce was the capital of medieval Bosnia and the place where King Stjepan Tomašević was crowned. The old town preserves walls, a tower and churches from different historical periods.
Nearby are the Pliva Lakes, ideal for swimming, fishing and excursions. The Pliva watermills form a unique complex protected as a national monument. In 1943 the AVNOJ assembly met in Jajce and took key decisions on the future of Yugoslavia.
Today the watermills are an open-air museum. The town is surrounded by forested mountains that offer excellent hiking. Jajce is an unforgettable destination for lovers of history, nature and photography.
